Gordon Herbert is DOSB’s (Der Deutsche Olympische Sportbund) choice for Coach of the Year in Germany. He also received the same honor Isabell Sawaderhythmic gymnastics coach.

Herbert couldn’t get to the place to claim his prize.

– It is a great pity that we cannot personally present the award to Herbet today, but we will do so in the near future, DOSB boss Thomas Weikert comment.

– If he and his team can achieve such a sensational success in the basketball World Cup, he undoubtedly deserves the Coach of the Year title.

Herbert led the Germans to the championship in the fall World Championships. The USA fell in the semi-final, Serbia in the final.

Herbert, 64, was born in Canada. He also has Finnish citizenship.

Herbert arrived in Finland in 1982 and played, among others, for Turku’s Namika, Forssa’s Koripoj and Uudenkaupunki’s Urheilijoi. He started his coaching career in Uusikaupunki.
