“A war battlefield”: local residents in shock after a fight in the street
“I opened the front door and it was one battlefield here. I don’t know what was happening here. Several cars were chasing each other and there were fights. I didn’t know what was happening, and I called the police. It was exactly a movie that was playing right here on our doorstep,” says Kristof.
“Everyone was very shocked”
The residents of Ter Bochtlaan have yet to recover from what happened in their street last night. Kristof and Linsey are especially happy that their young children didn’t notice.
“I was scared too because you could hear the wheels of the cars, tires screeching and screeching. And a lot of yelling and screaming. I just went in and I said please shut the door. Everyone here was very scared in the street Linsey says.
Katrien came out when the police and emergency services had already arrived.
“I suspect that when we came out, people had already run away. There was one person on the floor. It looked very serious. The emergency services were working on that man for almost an hour before they took him.”
