A unique glimpse into a hidden nature reserve in Zoetermeer: this is what the Plas van Poot looks like

These animals live in this area

About 60 cormorants live around the Plas van Poot. These are those big black birds that you sometimes see sunbathing with their wings spread out on a lamppost in the city. It is a protected bird species and they live on fish that they surface from the puddle. The fact that 36 breeding pairs of cormorants live in Zoetermeer is unique in the Netherlands. You won’t find that anywhere else in our country within city limits.

Furthermore, geese families, grebes, gray herons, kingfishers, ducks, rabbits, bats and occasionally foxes live on and near the lake.
