Due to the fact that the truck driving on Bakırköy Rauf Orbay Street collided with the overpass, its trailer fell on the vehicle driven by Bryant Dunston, an American basketball player playing for Anadolu Efes. Dunston was injured, stuck in his vehicle. Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene. Bryant Dunston was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital.
