Jon Mirasty played in the season 2011–2013 in the Russian Hockey League KHL.
Mirasty made headlines especially in the 2011-2012 season when he represented Vitjaz Chekhov.
In that period, Chekhov became famous for his several fights.
Mirasty already got into a fight before the start of the season, when she together with Kip Brennan and Jeremy Jablonski and beat the wedding party.
Mirasty told on the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast how NHL star Artemi Panarin helped him off the climb.
– Jablonski and I stood out. I had a big mohawk, I was bigger then anyway and my eyes were also black from the bruises. These women in their wedding dresses wanted to take pictures with us and their dudes didn’t like it, she said According to Championat.
Mirasty recalls that a large crowd gathered around them and started pushing.
– And then the punches. Jeremy ran into the crowd and was attacked by about three people. He is my friend so I went there too. After all, we were fighting five or six guys.
– I remember finishing and looking around, I got scared. Guys were lying on the ground and those women looked at them in horror. I thought, damn, what if we had killed one of them.

The police arrived, and the men on the ground ran away. Mirasty also tried to run away, but realized she was too slow and decided to stop.
He was afraid that otherwise the police would shoot him.
– The police handcuffed me and I thought that I don’t even speak Russian, and they didn’t speak a word of English.
Mirasty said that then 18-year-old Artemi Panarin arrived and did not speak English very well. However, he told the police that Mirasty is a tough guy and looked at Mirasty.
– He told me, money, money. I had $400-$500 (about €374-€468) with me and Panarin said give it to them. I gave the money to the police and they let me go. This was our Russian wedding story.
In addition to the KHL, Mirasty also played in the AHL during his career. After the KHL trips, the Canadian played only in the lower leagues.
