Matthew Perry’s family has released a statement to People about the actor’s death.
The family of actor Matthew Perry, who died in Los Angeles the night before Sunday, has given People-a statement to the magazine about the death of the Frendit star. Perry’s family tells People they are devastated by the actor’s death.
– We are devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world both as an actor and as a friend, the family said in a statement.
– You all meant a lot to him, and we appreciate the outpouring of love.
Perry was predeceased by his father John Bennett Perryhis mother Suzanne Morrison and his stepfather Keith Morrison. He also had five siblings from his parents’ subsequent marriages.
Perry was not married and had no children of his own.

Perry’s parents divorced less than a year after her birth in 1970. Her mother Suzanne married journalist Keith Morrison in 1981. In the same year, Perry’s father John also remarried.
John Bennett Perry also made a career as an actor, and they often worked in the same productions. John Bennett also appeared as a guest actor in the fourth season of Friends.
John Bennett and Suzanne supported their son in his battle with drug addiction. Perry said In an interview with ABC a year ago that his parents rushed him to the hospital when his colon burst as a result of drug use.
– They both stood on the edge of my bed. I thought, ‘Huh, I must be really sick for this to happen,'” Perry recalled by Diane Sawyer in an interview on ABC.
Perry was found lifeless in the hot tub of her Los Angeles home on Saturday. After unsuccessful CPR, he was pronounced dead and was not transported to the hospital.
Perry apparently died by drowning, but the official cause of death is still unknown at this point.
Perry was 54 years old when he died.
