A topic at FC Bayern? Völler about “pain threshold” with Patrik Schick

Patrik Schick is traded as a possible candidate to succeed Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich. Should the world footballer leave Munich, the Bayer Leverkusen striker could replace the Pole. But at what price? Still sports director Rudi Völler has now made an announcement.

With 24 goals, Patrik Schick is the second best attacker in the Bundesliga. Only Robert Lewandowski from FC Bayern is ahead of the goalscorer from Bayer Leverkusen in the ranking with a whopping 34 goals. However, the Polish national player’s contract expires in a good 13 months and the German record champions and Lewandowski have not yet been able to agree on an extension of the cooperation.

On the contrary: rumors are getting louder that the 33-year-old could join FC Barcelona for the new season. This is exactly where Patrik Schick comes into play. The Czech goalkeeper, who turned 26 in January, was recently associated with the Munich team by “Bild”, among others. According to the tabloid, the FCB bosses see the edgy striker as a suitable candidate to succeed Lewandowski, should he unexpectedly leave the club.

But Schick’s contract with the Werkself runs until 2025, according to “kicker” the Bayer managers assume that the striker will be able to keep the striker thanks to the secure qualification for the Champions League and the associated sporting perspective. However, sporting director Rudi Völler, who is resigning from his position in the summer, has now indicated that even Leverkusen could soften if Munich were offered a correspondingly high offer.

“We are a club where there is a pain threshold,” Völler told the “kicker”, but added: “But I can’t imagine that with Patrik at the moment.”

Talking to FC Bayern: Schick advisor remains vague

By reaching the premier class, which promises Leverkusen additional income of 25 million, a Schick sale has moved into the distant future. We would have had this pressure if we hadn’t reached the Champions League. That was also the case with Kai Havertz, whom we then had to sell (in 2020 and Chelsea FC/editor’s note). We have to do that with Patrik now not,” stressed Völler.

Various media reports had recently reported a pain threshold of at least 80 million euros for the attacker.

Bayer boss Fernando Carro, on the other hand, had already emphasized in the “Kölner Stadtanzeiger” before the successful CL qualification: “Patrik Schick is immensely important for us. He feels comfortable here. We want to keep him. He is not for sale!”

Schick’s advisor Pavel Paska was a little less clear recently. “He has a contract until 2025. I don’t need to talk more about the subject,” the agent was quoted as saying in the “kicker”. However, these words are not a denial of a possible move to Bayern Munich.

However, the Lewandowski case would first have to be clarified in Munich anyway. If the world footballer leaves Säbener Straße, the topic of chic could become hot again.
