The Wagner fighters moved to Belarus in June 2023 after leader Yevgeny Prigozhin failed to successfully end a rebellion against the Russian military leadership. According to the British, there were initially 8,000 Wagner fighters in Belarus.
The British Ministry of Defense regularly publishes information about the war in Ukraine, based on intelligence reports. The Russians say it is disinformation.
