The Mossos d’Esquadra de Berga police station registered on Monday afternoon two complaints from a family from Berguedà and another from Cerdanya because a teacher from the Alt Berguedà Institute in Bagà (Berguedà, Barcelona) allegedly groped two students from first of THAT. The professor has been arrested by the Mossos d’Esquadra this Tuesday, as confirmed by the same body to Regió7, from the Prensa Ibérica group.
These are the families of two female students aged 12 and 13 who are in the first year of ESO and who claim to have been victims of touching by the same teacher during the class. As explained by one of the complainant families, the case occurred on Wednesday of last week. Once they learned of the facts from their daughter, they contacted the institute to report the situation. This family has ensured that the teacher continued to teach for four days until this Monday, which has generated discomfort on the part of the complainants.
The Department of Education has explained that the educational center has acted quickly since the management received the complaint from the families. Department sources assured this Tuesday, before the arrest, that the teacher would continue working but with surveillance in the classroom. After the arrest, it will be necessary to see what situation he is in and what the Department does about it. At the same time, the Education Inspectorate and the Support Unit for students in situations of violence (USAV) have been activated from the outset. In this sense, students are being attended to, informing families and working with the institute’s management.
The management of the Alt Berguedà institute, for its part, has refused to make any kind of statement and has referred it to the Department of Education. For their part, the Mossos d’Esquadra have confirmed the opening of an investigation process that includes taking statements from possible witnesses. Within the framework of this investigation, the police force has arrested the teacher of the center this afternoon.
