A Swiss tourist buys a lobster in a restaurant, caresses it and releases it into the sea

In the past, it was common to go to a seafood restaurant or luxury restaurant and find a fish tank with live lobsters and other crustaceans. When the customer chose a piece, the cook or ‘maître’ went to the fish tank with a pair of tongs and took the chosen piece to later cook it to the consumer’s taste.

Apparently, in the Gente di Mare restaurantlocated in the northeast of the Italian island of Sardinia, they continue doing it like this. And that’s why they weren’t surprised when one Swiss touristwho was on vacation with her husband on the island, chose one of the specimens from the fish tank of the aforementioned restaurant, on the promenade of the town of Gallura, on the 14th.

The surprise came later, when the woman asked to be put in a bucket with some water and moved to the edge of the sea with the lobster, weighing one kilo. Before the incredulous looks of the restaurant’s owners, Antonio and Gianluca Fasolino, the woman gently caressed the animal for a while, whispering soft words to it. And then, she threw him into the sea. “She was very happy, she wanted to make a good gesture,” she told Italian news agency Ansa Antonio Fasolino.

The news appeared in the local newspaper ‘La Nuova Sardegna‘ and other Italian newspapers, such as ‘La Stampa’ and the video has gone viral on social networks, with comments for and against the tourist’s gesture.
