Prince Andrew wanted to be evicted from the Royal Lodge. However, now the situation seems that the prince will be allowed to stay in the house.
ANDY RAIN
Prince Andrew, who was under the threat of marriage, has unexpectedly received permission to stay in his Royal Lodge home on the grounds of Windsor for the time being. Earlier, his brother King Charles threatened to evict Andrew from the estate by extorting his cash flow and thereby making his brother insolvent.
During the summer of 2023, the prince, who was accused of sexual crimes, reportedly paid more than 200,000 euros for the renovation of the mansion’s roof. The amount is said to be a sort of “interim payment” to assure Prince Charles of his ability to pay.
Andrew is to convince his brother, King Charles, that he can afford to pay for the repairs of the mansion, which will cost a good two million. The listings have a total price of about 30 million, and the housing comprises a total of 30 rooms.
Originally, King Charles was driving his brother, formerly the prince, to a smaller apartment Harry’s and the duchess Meghan’s to Frogmore Cottage, a used English home. The prince would have to live in Frogmore more cramped than usual, because the building has five bedrooms.
However, challenges to the eviction were caused by the lease agreement Andrew signed in 2003 for the Royal Lodge, which is valid for 75 years. In practice, according to the contract, he would be allowed to live in the Royal Lodge for the rest of his life, if he could afford it. The prince pays £250 a week to live in the luxury property.
Andrew shares a luxurious mansion with his ex-wife Sarah Fergusson.
