Edoardo Mortara wins in Marrakech, Edoardo Mortara wins. Excellent in defending himself from the DS-Techeetah who have long undermined him as a couple, and we are talking about two riders who have won three of the last four titles, namely Jean-Eric Vergne and Antonio Felix Da Costa. Mortara kept them at a distance, flew to the finish line and went for his third win of the season (after Ad-Diriyah and Berlin). With which he sling to the top of the standings with 139 points, 11 more than Vergne. “We did what we had to do,” Edo said. “We knew we could put ourselves in a good position for the championship. Mortara started from the second pitch, with Da Costa on pole. The Portuguese of DS-Techeetah started first. All the top riders took both Attack Modes in the very first laps. But the Frenchman had a damaged front wing and never managed to worry Mortara. Then the second directive came from the garage: still in front of Da Costa. But for him too, nothing to do, also because it was too late by now. And in the meantime Mitch Evans won the fight for the podium with Vergne. Stoffel Vandoorne who had arrived in Morocco as leader of the classification, had problems in qualifying, started twentieth, moved up and reached the points and took 4, by virtue of the eighth place.
