The Berlin Volleys started the new season of the Volleyball Bundesliga with a hard-fought 3:1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:17, 29:27) win against the Grizzlys Giesen.

In front of 6,513 spectators in the Max Schmeling Hall, the German champions had a particularly difficult time on Friday evening. The best attacker for the winner was Marek Sotola with 21 points.

The hosts didn’t get into the game at all at first. At one point they were seven points behind (9:16). The opponent had clear advantages when serving. Even in their acceptance, the Berliners initially received no stability.

After losing the first set, the volleys gradually gained control of the action. The decisive factor for this was national player Johannes Tille, whose service posed considerable problems for the Giesen team. Nehemiah Mote also diligently collected points in the block.

Almost at the same time, as expected, the Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee lost 0:3 (17:25, 19:25, 15:25) at SVG Lüneburg. The most successful attacker for the Brandenburg team was Charlie Peters with nine points.
