According to Christian Horner, Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez both have an equal chance to win the championship.

Mexican driver Pérez won the last race in Monaco. He received a two-season extension contract shortly after the race. Pérez will still run Red Bull for at least the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Pérez has a fantastic effort at goal. Last season was more difficult, but in the first seven races of this season, the 32-year-old driver has been able to show he can drive for wins.

Verstappen has been widely regarded as Red Bull’s golden boy and the overwhelming number one driver. It also has its share that Verstappen’s former teammates have not been able to respond even helpfully to the wild speed of the Dutch driver.
Pérez had to give way to Verstappen in Barcelona, but this was the best solution for the team’s overall points pot and strategy, according to Horner.
– We talked right after the Barcelona race and there were no problems. He understood the overall picture really well then, Horner told Autosport.

Nor did Pérez see the matter as favoring Verstappen.
– They didn’t have to say that, because I know I have a fair chance to compete for winnings. By the way, I wouldn’t even drive here, Pérez explained.
