Kotipizza is selling a new type of pizza base. The base is aimed at those following a keto diet, and contains no grains at all.

Kotipizza sells a keto pizza base that is grain-free, gluten-free, yeast-free, lactose-free and soy-free. What exactly is in a keto pizza base, if there is no wheat or yeast, which are traditionally included in the ingredients of the pizza base. We asked Kotipizza’s communications specialist about it From Nelli Sajakoski.
– The pizza base contains egg, cheese, almonds, potato fiber, salt and whey protein, Sajakoski explains.
The base has been tasted in advance by consumers, and the feedback has been positive.
– We believe that there is a demand for this. We are regularly asked if there is a product suitable for the keto diet.
Kotipizza has been developing a keto base for over two years together with Ketoinen Oy.
Keto pizza base ingredient list
Ingredients: EGG (Finland), cheese (pasteurized MILK), ALMOND, potato fiber, thickener: guar gum (E412), salt and whey protein. GLUTEN-FREE, GRAIN-FREE, YEAST-FREE, LACTOSE-FREE and SOY-FREE. NOTE Raw materials containing gluten are processed in the restaurant premises
– We have noticed that the popularity of the keto diet has grown and we wanted to be involved in the development. That’s why we wanted to introduce a new pizza base to the market, which is suitable for keto dieters, but is also particularly delicious, says Kotipizza’s creative director Risto Mikkola in the bulletin.
The keto pizza base will go on sale on September 19. Keto base can be chosen for all Kotipizza products and ingredients. A pizza base suitable for a keto diet is made in a separate aluminum pizza pan.
Ketos from the R-kiosk
Kotipizza is not the first chain to sell a keto version of fast food, traditionally rich in carbohydrates. In August, R-kioski launched the Ketoinen hodari, whose bun is low in carbohydrates.
The hodarisämpylä recipe developed by Ketoinen Oy uses, among other things, Finnish eggs, potato protein and fiber, almonds and cheese.
In a keto diet, the amount of carbohydrates is strictly limited. Instead of carbohydrates, proteins and plenty of fat are chosen for the plate. The goal is ketosis, a state where the body starts burning fat instead of carbohydrates.
A keto diet is usually an effective way to lose weight.
– If the ketogenic diet does not produce results, the reason is usually that you eat too many carbohydrates. For example, there may be a lot of flour in a jogging sausage. The most important rule is to avoid carbohydrates as much as possible, said the doctor of medicine, general practitioner Mats Rönnback Team LCHF from Finland to Iltalehti in 2019.
