Ossi Virta is HJK’s head coach in the starting season. The training is supplemented by the Spanish Ferran Sibila and Oscar García Rodríguez.
The club announced the decision on the coaching mess on Friday.
In November, Sibila was named HJK’s head coach for the 2024–2025 season, but the saga took some unusual turns. The Spaniard did not have the top coaching Uefa Pro license he would have needed to work as a head coach of a Premier League club.
Sibila was supposed to complete her degree in Sweden, but the plan fell through.
Now Virta will rise from assistant coach to head coach. Sibila is responsible for developing HJK’s gamified process.
Virtra’s head coach contract is valid until Sibila gets to Uefa Pro training.
