It is a white paradise on Texel. That is quite special, because according to forest ranger Thomas van der Es, it does not happen that often that the island is covered with a layer of snow. He went out and shares the white world with NH News.
“At the end of the morning it started snowing hard here, and that’s why it’s staying down now. The whole nature has come to a standstill. When I walked through the forest this morning I could still hear the spring: a woodpecker drumming, great tits busy, all sorts of things. And now: silence. The animals have retreated and everything seems to be paused. Wonderful!”, says the enthusiastic forest ranger.
According to him, this sudden snowy world is not a danger to nature, because it is still fairly early in March. If heavy frost nights develop deep into April, this would be a different story.
