A small print was left unread, and it’s a pea in the nose again – Google is raining criticism

In the advertising video, the artificial intelligence talks fluently with the user, but it is not the whole truth. Google didn’t really leave anything unsaid, but the text under the video went unnoticed by many.

Google has received an avalanche of criticism for the introduction video of its new Gemini artificial intelligence model. The company describes the artificial intelligence it released on Wednesday as the best of the artificial intelligence models it has developed so far.

They tell about it CNBC and Techspot, according to which the demo video shows conversations between the user and the Gemini chatbot and demonstrates Gemini’s ability to recognize images and physical objects. For example, artificial intelligence was able to describe a drawing of a duck and distinguish between a drawing of a duck and a real rubber duck.

The description of the video on YouTube briefly mentions that its delay has been reduced and the time taken for Gemini’s responses has been shortened. In other words, Gemini is not really as fast as it appears in the video.

Google itself has admitted For Bloomberg, that the introduction video was not real-time. The video suggests that you could have a smooth conversation with Gemini at the same time as the artificial intelligence examines the world around it.

Criticism before

Earlier this year, Google was criticized for the advertising video of the artificial intelligence bot Bard, in which the artificial intelligence, intended as a competitor to ChatGPT, made a mistake when reporting on the discoveries made by the James Webb space telescope.

Bard claimed that the telescope took the first pictures of a planet outside the solar system, i.e. an exoplanet, which is not true, however. The first image of an exoplanet was taken by the Very Large Telescope in Chile in 2004.

Google competes directly with OpenAI, whose GPT-4 AI model has been the most capable and successful AI on the market to date.
