A simple barn or a group accommodation in Peize? ‘Northfield keeps a blind eye’

Despite a fire letter from a large group of local residents, owners of a plot on the Langbroek in Peize do not have to stop the construction of a shed.

The owners of the plot would eventually like to build a group accommodation and two apartments, but do not have a permit for this. The municipality of Noordenveld states that it is not aware of these plans.

That is why the barn can be built without a permit. This is also confirmed by the Noordenveldse objections committee, which disagrees with the objectors.

Incomprehensible, say those objectors. Especially since they have been informed of their plans by the owners of the plot. They don’t lie about it. The owners clearly indicate that they eventually want to start a group accommodation at the Langbroek.

Alderman Robert Meijer (VVD) says he knows those sounds. “Nevertheless, no application has ever been made to the municipality for the construction of a group accommodation. So we cannot pass judgment on that.”

He does indicate that there is no recreational destination on the plot and that there will in principle not be one. “Then there should be an application, but it is not there.”

Documents show that several departments at the town hall in Roden are aware of the plans. This resonates with local residents, who believe that the municipality is blind to clear signals.

According to them, the owners clearly want to build more than just a shed. “In the building there are several glass exterior doors, several interior doors, large windows and a glass sliding door for the group room,” says a resident.

“There are also several toilet and shower connections. The building is divided into two apartments and a group room. The owners are currently busy winding down.”

The municipality continues to insist that it knows nothing more than a shed. Enforcement requests have so far been ignored. “We are only aware of a desk application,” says alderman Meijer. But documents requested by local residents show that there has been intensive contact between owners and the municipality.

According to Meijer, this is the result of the ‘yes, unless’ attitude of the municipality of Noordenveld. In other words: the municipality thinks on the basis of a positive answer, unless it really is not possible. “A diligent civil servant has looked at what is possible and what is not. That does not mean that the question has risen above the level of desk application.”

In other words: as long as there is no permit application for recreation, Noordenveld sees no reason to look at the barn. In addition, the barn would have been built illegally and should therefore not be completed without a permit, according to local residents and their lawyer.

The Complaints Committee also ignores this. Local residents say they are ‘totally stunned’. “They do nothing with our substantiation, and they do not refute our arguments.”

Local residents find the apathetic attitude of the city council more remarkable. List Groen Noordenveld did ask questions at the beginning of June, but other parties are keeping aloof.

Meanwhile, residents are considering legal action.
