Supporters of 1. FC Magdeburg, who play in Germany’s second-highest division, completely messed up a train of the Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG) train company in Germany.
Magdeburg supporters were returning from an away match against Hertha Berlin on Friday. Hertha Berlin won the match 3–2.
The train was traveling from Berlin to Magdeburg with around 700 passengers on board when Magdeburg fans tore off the train’s skylight panels and put club stickers around the carriages. In addition, almost everywhere in the interior of the train there was graffiti made with spray paint.
Train driver Thomas Brauhart opened up about the experience on Linkedin.
– I am furious. The train smelled of vomit, feces, alcohol and behinds, Brauhart wrote according to Bild.
The passengers of the train made several emergency calls to the train driver. Brauhart had to stop answering them because otherwise the safety of the passengers and the trip would have suffered.
Throughout the journey, there was smoke inside the train due to smoking and the fire alarms sounded almost non-stop.
According to the German Bild, Magdeburg’s supporters caused damages of tens of thousands of euros.
– What remained was catastrophic destruction, piles of garbage and puddles of urine, beer and drinking water, the train company’s press release says.
Magdeburg is 12th in the 2nd Bundesliga.
