The film “Mielsäsähoitätä – Looking for Escorttia etsimäsä” will be premiered next month.

The shooting of the movie Mielsäpahoittät – Looking for Escorttia etsimäsä did not go as planned. Aake Kallialan was supposed to play Tarmo, the brother of Mielsäpahoittar, but he was injured in a platform accident a year ago, and was even close to being paralyzed. Kalliala had to withdraw from the film.
The director of the film, Mika Kaurismäki, tells how filming had to be stopped. Kalliala was replaced by washing Kari Väänänenand some of the filming in Finland, about half, had to be redone.
– This has never happened before. It was really surprising, but the most important thing is that Aake recovered.
The film is not only about the Mielensäpahoidat character, but also about a lot more.
– Of course, the character was familiar, but I also made a film about human relationships, brothers, friendship, forgiveness. The world is now spiraling toward everything bad. I wanted to show humanity and forgiveness, they are basic things to get by in the world, the world can also be beautiful.

The film is exceptional in Kaurismäki’s long career in that Kaurismäki “only” directed the film. In the past, he has produced or scripted and sometimes also edited the film.
– It’s much easier just to guide. Now you could directly enjoy the creative phase. After all, this is quite an actor-centric film, and nowadays I like to make actors-centric films.
Kaurismäki describes Heikki Kinnus as a professional who was easy to work with.
