Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen has to be sidelined from the games for a long time due to serious health problems.

The Dane’s club announced on Monday that Andersen is suffering from a problem related to blood clotting. The health problem was resolved during a medical examination.

There was no estimate of the 34-year-old Andersen’s return back between the posts. According to the club, he is expected to make a full recovery.

Andersen was the Hurricanes’ number one goaltender. He has played six of his team’s matches this season, four of which have turned into victories. The save percentage this season is 89.4.

Antti Raanta has served as Andersen’s backup option, but the Finn’s early season has been weak. The save percentage in five matches is a weak 87.0.

Andersen’s departure is a screen spot that the 34-year-old Raanna should grab.

There is no free screen space available. The Hurricanes announced that they have acquired a cornerback Jaroslav Halakin from the free market with a tryout contract. The 38-year-old Slovakian has the opportunity to attack from the left back and seize the mantle of first defender from the current duo.

Carolina is third in the Metropolitan Division. It has won seven of its 12 matches.

In addition to Raanta, Finns play in the team Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teräväinen.
