OREvery work environment has its complexities. There are rules and timetables to respect, mechanisms to understand and implement, colleagues to get to know and with whom to try to build relationships, including human ones, day after day. It is very important to combine all these factors and be able to face the hours we spend at work serenely, also because performance is closely connected to the company climate.
In this sense LKQ RHIAGthe Italian branch of a large European distribution group operating in the automotive aftermarket with more than twenty-six thousand people in 20 countries, offers its collaborators courses aimed at different targets and consistent with the culture of development of the people of its parent company LKQ corporation.
Free Your Potential
LKQ RHIAG promotes a culture of growth, development and equal opportunity for all employees. In the corporate code of ethics of the LKQ group we read “Every person who joins our team is welcomed, appreciated and respected. We recognize that everyone brings with them their own personal experiences and everyone, regardless of role, is given equal opportunities for their career to grow and develop the way they want to.”.
It is precisely in this perspective that it was born Free Your Potential. It is a training course focused on the LKQ RHIAG Young Community which involves the younger range of collaborators of all group companies in Italy. This path aims to develop soft skills, enhance skills and strengthen awareness of one’s ability to positively contribute to company growth.
The route, developed for LKQ RHIAG by ISTUD Business School, it was custom built for the needs of the group and is divided into 4 modules. Each is structured both in the classroom and in e-learning for in-depth exercises. In addition to providing very useful tools for professional and personal growth, this course is also a valuable opportunity for discussion with colleagues who work in the various functions.
The corporate culture of LKQ RHIAG for a positive working environment
Free Your Potential is just another piece of an interesting one training offer that the group offers to its collaborators to enhance their development and which also includes innovative tools such as the LKQ You e-learning platform with its extensive catalog of training pills for flexible and personalized use.
This approach helps to promote a positive corporate culture with strong and incisive cornerstones. Let’s see them in detail.
Diversity & Inclusion
The enhancement of all the people in the group
In the LKQ RHIAG group there is a strong commitment to valuing collaborators, supporting them in their growth. In fact, people are considered the greatest resource, as well as a determining factor for success. Here we want to create an inclusive work environment where everyone can feel free to express their opinions. The aim is to enable every single person to exploit their talents, develop their skills and reach their full potential.
The culture of feedback
Listening to one’s collaborators is one of the founding assets of the group on a global level, to the point that the level of motivation and participation of people is part of LKQ’s sustainability objectives. Every year, collaborators are encouraged to express their opinion on the organization through the annual survey “Your voice matters”to know what is going well and what are the areas on which the company can improve.
Precisely with a view to improvement, the training courses also involve the first managerial lines to enhance their skills in providing constructive and enhancing feedback on the performance and activities of their collaborators.
Diversity, equity and inclusion
LKQ RHIAG is part of the European subsidiary of a multinational group, LKQ Corporation, and for this reason too it is very natural to promote diversity, equity and inclusion. It is stated in the code of ethics “Diversity is a source of enrichment for us and fuels our success, offering multiple perspectives for conducting business and building a corporate culture that is increasingly open to discussion. As a group we are committed to supporting the path towards equal opportunities”.
In Italy, the first line of management of the group is made up of 50% women.
“Our commitment is to keep the workplace inclusive, free from discrimination, intolerance or harassment and is based on shared opportunities. LKQ Europe embraces and supports all forms of identities, such as gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, political and religious beliefs, disability and age”.
Well Being for a safe working environment and a responsible commitment
A culture that focuses on health, safety and well-being
In the LKQ RHIAG group these three very important aspects are a priority. Also in these areas, the training courses are varied and the group has obtained the UNI ISO 45001:2018 certification in Italy relating to occupational health and safety management systems. Moreover, with a view to promoting a better work-life balancefor employees there is the possibility of taking advantage of the flexible working method which combines days in presence with days of smart working.
The commitment to contribute positively to the development of communities
The LKQ Group, as a socially responsible employer, is committed to participating in the life of the communities in which it operates and to have a positive impact on their social and economic development. It also does this by encouraging employees to engage in community service activities.
The sustainability campaign was launched this year “Let’s roll up our sleeves” which, through multiple initiatives, embraces all the pillars of LKQ’s sustainability: People, Planet and Communities.
Some are included in this campaign corporate volunteering initiativessuch as a planting business with One Tree Planet which aims to recreate agroforestry systems and contribute to the urban regeneration of the South Agricultural Park of Milan. The LKQ Group supports this association globally and, thanks to its Italian partner Soulfood Forestfarms, it has led the Italian collaborators to literally “get their hands dirty”. Another example of activity is volunteering in support of Agrivis, the agricultural cooperative that promotes the employment of disadvantaged, disabled and frail people. In this context, the group’s collaborators dedicate a few days during the year to support Agrivis in the maintenance of the fields and in the transformation of agricultural products. Finally, a project of the highest human value is the initiative in collaboration with Avis for blood collection in support of hospitals in Milan. The Avis blood bank is hosted at the LKQ RHIAG headquarters in Pero (Milan) involving not only its employees but also neighboring companies.
