The prey manages to escape despite the strong and sharp teeth of the predator

Predators do not always achieve their goal, no matter how helpless their victims may seem. In fact, it is known that they only manage to capture them in a low percentage of their attempts, although this depends on the species in question. An example of this can be seen in a video that shows how an apparently infallible predator, such as the Tiger shark, can be ‘defeated’ by a peaceful sea turtlewho manages to give him the slip after a hard and agonizing fight.

The scene occurred near the Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii and it could be recorded using a drone carried by members of an ecological tourism company. When the Kaimana Ocean Safari monitors were sailing off the coast, they observed a disturbance in the nearby waters, caused by some animal, and saw that there was a shark trying to catch a green turtle.

Immediately afterwards, they put into flight a drone that was able to record from the air this life or death combat between two species common in these waters. Everything seemed to portend that the tiger shark, known for its strong and sharp teeth, would soon tear apart the harmless green turtle that had the bad luck to encounter its attacker.

The shark failed to capture the turtle

However, and as the images show, after a few ten minutes of intense fighting, the shark did not manage to capture it, although it surely left serious scratches on its shell and perhaps wounds. Finally, they ended up going their own way.
