At least three children have dead and two have been injured this Thursday after the collapse of the El Porvenir school, in which 22 students were in the rural area of ​​Andes, in the southwest of the Colombian region of Antioquia. Three children have been transferred to the San Rafael Hospital where they have died and two minors have been treated for their injuries, as reported by the newspaper ‘El Espectador’. Also, the relief agency has confirmed the rescue of four other children who were missing after the collapse of a school in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Andes.

The director of the Administrative Department for Disaster Risk Management of Antioquia (DAGRD), Diego Peña López, explained that after the incident, 19 students and a teacher have been rescued initially.

The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, has detailed on his Twitter account that there are search and rescue teams in the area. “Search and rescue teams are already present in the village of Tapartó, a rural area of ​​the municipality of Andes, Antioquia, to attend to the emergency caused by the landslide on a school. We are permanently monitoring the situation,” declared the president. Colombian. In this sense, he has sent “all his solidarity to the families of the children who unfortunately lost their lives in this tragedy that mourns the country.”
