The legendary dance and concert venue Nivalan Tuiskula will be closed until further notice.

The matter is reported on the place’s Facebook page, according to which Tuiskula is open for the last time on Saturday.

– The past few days have been difficult for us because we have decided to close Tuiskula’s doors for the time being, the publication says.

Tuiskula, which started in 1926, became known as a dance venue maintained by Nivala’s Athletes, where numerous top domestic names performed.

The place is also remembered as the venue for Metallica’s first Finnish tour in 1984, which has since become a heavy rock giant. It was the band’s second concert in Finland.

In the 80s, Motörhead and Uriah Heep also performed in Tuiskula.

KP: It’s not worth it

Tuiskula’s current entrepreneur Ami Salmela tells For Keskipohjanmaa newspaperthat running the place is no longer worth it.

– You don’t want to be an old bitch, he says.

According to Salmela, the costs have risen in an unsustainable way, so that the increase cannot be passed on to prices.

– If you think that a large beer would have the same margin as before the corona, it should cost 9.20. Even now, with a generous six euros, we are on the verge of pain, the entrepreneur complains to Keskipohjanmaa.

Salmela tells the newspaper that the audience also couldn’t find their way back to entertainment after the corona lockdowns.

– Times have changed in the past four years, and we didn’t keep up with it, Salmela says according to Keskipohjanmaa.
