A robot broke a Tesla employee – Elon Musk got mad at the media and for good reason

British newspaper Daily Mail reported a few days ago about the accident that happened at Tesla’s Texas factory in 2021, as a result of which an employee of the company was injured.

In the media, the incident has been referred to as a “violent robot attack” and some news have given it to be understood that the robot attacked the Tesla employee in a brutal way.

In addition, the main photo of the Daily Mail article featured Tesla’s humanoid robot Optimus.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has not been happy with the headlines.

– It’s shameful that the media brings up a two-year-old case in this way, which is related to a simple robot arm that can be found in all factories, and implies that this would have something to do with Optimus, Musk stated in his messaging service X.

What is it really about?

For some reason, the robot arm that was working activated and grabbed the worker, causing an open wound on his hand that bled profusely, according to the Daily Mail. The situation ended when another worker pressed the robot’s emergency switch.

Humanoid robot Optimus

Musk introduced Tesla’s artificial intelligence robot Optimus in 2021. According to Musk, in the future, a humanoid assistant robot can, for example, go to the store on behalf of its owner and do boring tasks.

Musk also hinted at the possibility that one day a robot could do more physical work, so that humans wouldn’t have to.

In 2021, the physical prototype of the robot was not yet ready to be presented, but it did not see the light of day until 2022. At that time, Musk said that the robot would not be in production for another 3-5 years.
