A survey carried out at the end of last year asked the respondents for the first time about what kind of inappropriate behavior they have experienced at various music and cultural events. According to the release, the results are disappointing.

10 percent of the respondents had experienced discrimination at the festival. On the other hand, at gigs and concerts, nine percent of the respondents had experienced some kind of discrimination.

The most common inappropriate behavior at music events is sexual harassment and physically threatening situations, the research release states. Such situations happen most often when watching a show in the audience. According to the study, inappropriate behavior also occurs in the bar area and in traffic jams.

Unknown person

According to a study commissioned by the University of the Arts, the harasser is almost always an unknown person. Five percent of the respondents had experienced improper behavior by law enforcement officers. For the researchers, this is a worrying feature, because the law enforcers would have to ensure the safety of the festival crowd.

According to the study, women experience more inappropriate behavior than men at festivals, concerts and gigs.
