“A real hero”: American boy (7) saves toddler from drowning in swimming pool | Abroad

“I was playing pool when I saw a boy on the bottom,” Massiah told Good Morning America. “I went to get him then,” said the child. According to Massiah’s mother, Tiara Delvalle, her son jumped into the pool – which was about six feet deep – to save the toddler. Delvalle rushed to the pool as quickly as possible after being notified by some family members who were also on site.

Massiah tells how he saw the 3-year-old boy, whom he did not know, lying on the bottom with his mouth and eyes open. The child took the toddler by the arm and pulled him up. The toddler was then brought back to safety with the help of bystanders. Several eyewitnesses later called 911.

A spokesman for the local police department confirms the incident and reports that bystanders performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the toddler. “The child was then taken to hospital in critical condition,” it said.

Tiara Delvalle said she had contact with the victim’s mother, who said that her son is now doing well.
