“That is why we are very happy with the restructuring fund,” says Ewoud Bos. He is a Member of Parliament for GroenLinks. “And a great ambassador for Meppel, so this news is dear to my heart,” he says with a smile. Bos knows the Bleekerseiland location well. “This place really asks to do something with it. It is a beautiful location, but unfortunately very outdated. There used to be an event there, but lately it has been completely quiet there. So it is important that something is going to happen. Nice that we can pull that out of the doldrums with this fund.”
Bos agrees with the plan to realize a hotel there. “I think a hotel fits well in this location. It is close to the center and has many shops, restaurants and other businesses in the vicinity. I can imagine that many people will want to spend the night there.”
