A politician from Entre Ríos intends to leave Javier Milei without a party

Since October of last year, a politician from Entre Ríos, Carina Ivaskovclaims to be the owner of the name “Freedom Advances” at the national level. The same denounced having serious conflicts with the leader of said party, the deputy javier milei. And this dispute seems to have reached its highest point: the woman claims to have “expelled Milei from the party” through a document letter in which she demands that she stop using the name and logos of the political movement. In the event that this claim advances, the liberal will be forced to look for another seal in the face of the 2023 elections. Currently, Ivascov is affirming that he is forming a political confederation together with national and local references of La Libertad Avanza, the who are dissatisfied with the libertarian leader.

The conflict between Ivascov and Milei is not new. According to Ivascov, she would have been summoned by Milei’s space to add Republican Loyalty to the national army. She agreed to join, but, she clarified, with conditions: she put her structure and affiliations, organized the army in the provinces and changed the name of her party, but patented the name. Thus, on June 1, 2022, she requested the registration of the La Libertad Avanza trademark at the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).

Last August, Jose Bonacci, party leader Unite and Milei’s ally in Santa Fe At that time, he wanted to register a confederation of parties in his province with the same name: La Libertad Avanza. Both Ivascov and Milei and Carlos Kikuchi, adviser to the libertarian, presented an opposition to Bonacci’s attempt and the Justice ruled in favor of the liberal and the Entre Ríos. But days later Karina Miley made an application for the registration of the same mark at the INPI. “With what malice if there was no discord with me,” Ivascov lamented then.

Ivascov and Karina Milei trademark registration requests.

“The brand belongs to those who pay, have it and patent it. If the brand belonged to him, he would have raised an opposition when I registered it. They didn’t do it because I was from the team,” Ivascov explained at the time, who raised an opposition to miley will use the name.

As confirmed at the time by the INPI to NEWS, both requests for trademark registration -Ivascov’s and Karina Milei’s- are being processed and are being studied in order of entry. Ivascov appears as the first person to request the name, so he is the one with the highest probability of being granted it, but the process that grants ownership takes 16 months. This means that, for the moment, the claims have no more relevance than Ivascov’s annoyance, at least until the INPI resolves who will grant the intellectual property of the name in question.
