A picnic with live music from Belgian soil

This week I went to the city park of Veurne for Open Kiosk. In the middle of the park is a beautiful installation with colorful umbrellas, under which you can sink into one of the beach chairs, or unfold your picnic blanket. While you enjoy the sun and the atmosphere, you will be presented with real Belgian young musical talent. A concept that radiates cosiness and has convinced me completely.

The various visitors had spread out over the domain. Some enjoyed an extensive aperitif, others enjoyed a book in the sun and so there was something for everyone. The live music was provided by young Belgian artists such as the Ostend Bwana, the winner of the audience award of Humo’s rock rally: Isaac Roux and Matjoeww from Veurne itself. All artists also indicated that they really enjoyed their performances and would like to come again.

Open Kiosk is a free event where young and old are welcomed by the friendly staff. Cooled drinks, but also coffee are provided by Oxfam and can be purchased for a reasonable price. The people of Veuren are proud of their city and you can see that in their openness and willingness to chat with everyone.

Practical

Open Kiosk will continue throughout the summer, every Wednesday afternoon from 12 noon to 3:15 pm. There will be a one-time evening edition on 20 July. In addition, there are also several other events in the city park. For example, on Sunday 17 July you can enjoy an aperitif with live music during a kiosk matinee.
