National Police agents have arrested a 42-year-old man for Allegedly using elderly woman’s credit card fraudulently for one year as if it were your property for your daily expenses, for a total amount of more than 3,000 euros.
The investigation began after a complaint from one of the victim’s relatives, who stated that the victim, a 78-year-old woman, had recently realized that someone was using her credit card to small expenses since December of last year without his permission, as indicated by the National Police in a statement.
The Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit of the Alicante Provincial Police Station took charge of the investigation, as it was a scam. The victim, who had not realized the charges until now, told the investigators that the start date of the charges would correspond to the moment in which she was admitted for a few days due to health problems at the General Hospital of Alicante.
The agents assigned to the UDEF Group verified that the person who was fraudulently using the bank card had made up to 105 different charges to make online purchasesfor a total amount greater than 3,000 euros.

The purchases were made from food delivery companies or to pay for the subscription to a streaming platform for a whole year, among others. Upon completing the necessary investigative efforts, the police were able to fully identify him and proceed to arrest him for the crime of fraud.
The detainee is a 42-year-old man who would have been working as nursing assistant in the same hospital where the victim had been admitted last year. The agents are still investigating whether that could have been the moment in which the arrested person stole the elderly woman’s credit card to use it for a year.
