A weekend away with family is not music to everyone’s ears. Especially when it comes to the in-laws, many feel obliged to come along. This is evident from a study commissioned by Bungalowparkoverzicht.nl. People from Brabant feel slightly less resistance to going away for a few days with ‘the cold side’ than the average Dutch person.
On average, more than half (51%) of Dutch people are not looking forward to a nice weekend or midweek with the in-laws. In Brabant we just barely reach half that figure with 48.8%. A remarkable detail is that only in Zeeland do people prefer to travel with their in-laws rather than with their own family.
Obligation
Most people prefer to go away with their own family anyway. Although respondents under the age of 45 also have difficulty with this. Nearly 64% felt obliged to go with the in-laws. This group is also not excited about a few days away with their own family. Almost 51% feel obliged to go along.
Common annoyances during such a family weekend:
- Too close to each other (27%)
- Do everything together (16.7%)
- Paying too much attention to each other (14.2%)
- Too expensive (8.3%)
- No private space (8.3%)
There are under the hold 1000 respondents also people who have never been on a mini-vacation with family. More than half indicated that they were not looking forward to this either.
