A new paid feature for Meta’s services

Meta owns, among others, Facebook and Instagram. PDO

Meta, known as the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, says on Sunday that it will start offering a paid Meta Verified feature to its users, reports Reuters.

With the new feature, the user can get a verified account with a blue icon for either Instagram or Facebook for a monthly fee. The new feature is not coming to other services owned by Meta, such as WhatsApp.

The company says that the Meta Verified feature will first be implemented in Australia and New Zealand. After this, the new feature will be released gradually in other countries as well.

At its cheapest, the feature costs $11.99 per month. If you use the service with an app instead of a browser, the price is $14.99 per month.

Meta’s announcement follows Twitter, which in turn announced that in the future a verified account on Twitter will cost $11 per month.

Meta was in the headlines at the end of last year due to giant layoffs. At that time, the company announced that it would lay off 11,000 employees. This was 13 percent of the company’s workforce.
