A new national team was founded in Finland

The Frisbee golf association set up a national team.

The Finnish Frisbee Golf Association, which is one of the member organizations of the Olympic Committee, has established a national team, which includes the top Finnish athletes in 16 sports.

The national team is named Disc Golf Team Finland, which consists of Team Finland of six top players and ten other players, whom the association calls potential prize winners.

The Frisbee golf association started national team activities already in the winter. Its goal is to help players succeed and to promote the visibility of the top Finnish players. Camps and support services are available for players, such as psychological coaching services and counseling in matters related to the athlete’s everyday life.

– The national team activity was first of all started so that we as an association could more comprehensively support the players’ opportunities to progress to the international top of the sport. In the association, we have systematically developed the path of the frisbee golfer. Now the path progresses from the middle school camp through the Academy all the way to the national team level, the association’s executive director Anniina Ihamäki said in the release.

In a very short time, Frisbee golf has become one of the most popular forms of leisure time exercise among Finns. Natural Resources Center according to 20 percent of the Finnish adult population play Frisbee golf.

The number of true enthusiasts has also been growing rapidly in the 2020s. In 2020, the member clubs of the frisbee golf association had 6,518 members, but in 2020 there were already more than 11,000 members.

According to the Finnish Frisbee Golf Association, the Finnish national team representing Finland in international prestige competitions may also include, in addition to the 16 players mentioned above, other Finnish players selected for competitions in different competition categories.
