A milestone reached: TH Lübeck honors graduates of the 2023 summer semester

The graduates of the 2023 summer semester have reached an important milestone in their lives: completing their studies. The graduates celebrated this moment with around 300 guests consisting of their families and members of the TH Lübeck and the city society on Saturday, September 23rd at 2 p.m. in the St. Petri Church in Lübeck. A total of 427 students were able to graduate from TH Lübeck in the summer semester of 2023. Of these, 74 graduates in the department Applied Natural Sciences139 in Construction70 in the Electrical engineering and computer science and 144 in the department Mechanical engineering and economics. For the first time, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science celebrated a graduate from the course IT security online.

Greetings and thunderous applause for the graduates

After a musical introduction by the Friend’tett, Pastor Dr. Bernd Schwarze gave the round of greetings with thoughts on the 31st Psalm in spoken poetry format. He recommended that graduates enjoy the high of success but remain grounded. “Because basically, life is, never forget, always touching the ground, always podiatry,” says Schwarze.

The President of the TH Lübeck, Dr. Muriel Helbig also warmly welcomed the graduates: “You can all be incredibly proud of yourself. You have mastered a demanding, practice-oriented course of study. With your knowledge and your life experience you will make an important contribution to our society – I wish you every success and, above all, a lot of joy wherever you go.”

In his office as mayor, Henning Schumann conveyed his best wishes for the graduates: “Sometimes it takes time to get to the ripe fruit. At this point, dear graduates, you have now arrived. Grab it. I am pleased to be able to congratulate you on behalf of the Hanseatic city and the citizens of Lübeck. Your hard work and dedication has paid off.”

Awards from the sponsoring society: special family success

The graduates received a special award from the Support company the TH Lübeck. André Drews, professor at the TH Lübeck and executive board member of the support association, presented prizes for special academic achievements to eight students from the four departments. All of them completed their final theses with grades between 1.0 and 1.2. “This year we seem to have a successful family,” says Prof. Drews. Because the same last name appears twice. Robin Sean Teuber accepted his certificate and that of his brother Jeremy Teuber. Both have their bachelor’s degrees Biomedical engineering completed with a grade of 1.0.

Found your better half while studying

After awarding the graduation certificates to all graduates, Justin Heim – bachelor’s graduate of the course – held the event mechanical engineering – a final speech representative of his class: “In our four years at the TH Lübeck, we worked one or two night shifts for exams. Ultimately it paid off. During my studies I made a lot of acquaintances, made a lot of friends, best friends and also found my better half.”
