The Grammy Gala will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The incident had to be postponed from January to April due to the worsening coronavirus situation.
The evening’s broadcast will be hosted by a comedian Trevor Noah.
However, there have been last-minute changes to the Gala program. The band Foo Fighters was originally supposed to perform at the gala, but the band had to cancel the show when the drummer Taylor Hawkins died earlier this week.
The musician was 50 years old at the time of his death. Hawkins died in Colombia, where they were to perform.
At the drummer’s autopsy, residues of several different drugs had been found in his body. In addition, Hawkins’ heart was twice the weight of the average heart weight of a man his age.

– We’re going to honor Hawkins’ memory in some way, CBS Jack Sussman commented on Variety magazine.
– We want to find out what is the right way to act that respects all parties. We are patient and plan this until the end, he continued.
Boycott
Not all musicians look forward to the Grammy Gala as eagerly. One of them is a Canadian musician Drake. The musician was nominated in two different categories, but he decided to ask for his candidacy to be withdrawn.
Drake has criticized the Grammy Gala in the past, even after winning.
– We play opinion sports, not fact-based sports, he said in his victory speech in 2019.
– You’ve already won if people sing your songs. You don’t need this (prize) here.

The event was also boycotted by the hit musician The Weeknd. He is especially known Blinding Lights -his hit. The musician will not be attending the gala because he was left without a nomination last year. In retrospect, he accused the organizers of corruption.
The singer was also left without nominations Adele, but for a completely different reason. The deadline for nominations was September 30, Adele’s new album 30 was only released in November last year, so it didn’t make it into the competition.

For its part, the Swedish band ABBA is nominated for the first time in its history at the Grammy Gala. The band is nominated in the Recording category of the year I Still Have Faith in You with their song.
