The international grassroots football tournament Ibercup Andalucía 2023, one of the most important international children’s and youth sports competitions in the world that is held in San Roque (Cádiz), has been peppered with a violent incident starring several spectators present during a children’s category match of the Cádiz tournament.
Witnesses present at the scene They have explained to EL PERIÓDICO that during one of the matches that were being played at that time, differences began to arise between spectators of one team and the other, even dedicating themselves to all kinds of insults. And, when everything seemed that it was going to stay in another scene that unfortunately can be seen regularly in many stadiums of the Spanish geography, a man attacked another bystander with a sharp object before the astonished gaze of dozens of children.

In the video, collected by one of the witnesses, you can see how the aggressor came to poke the victim before other people managed to reduce it to prevent the situation from escalating. The altercation did not result in a complaint and was settled as a “painful fight.”

The scenes of fathers and mothers watching their children’s games while yell, hit or fight with other parents are repeated year after year.
