The Figueres Urban Guard had to defend themselves with shots to subdue a man who had shot at them with a shotgun. The man had previously threatened his ex-wife and his niece with the firearm.
The agents have had to use their service weapons because when they arrived at the service where they had been required, the individual, instead of stopping, engaged in a shootout with them. Finally, he ended up injured and arrested for the events, reports Diari de Girona, from the Prensa Ibérica group.
This individual died this Tuesday shortly before 11 p.m. in the Figueres hospital, after failing to overcome the gunshot wounds. He had an impact in the chest area that put his life in danger and that was finally the case. From here, the Mossos d’Esquadra have opened an investigation into both the death of the individual and the violent episode.
The events occurred around 8 p.m. in an isolated house near a forest track, near Indiquetes street and close to the Eixample neighborhood. The Urban Police have been required to go to the house because a woman had informed a neighbor, who is also a local police officer. She explained to him that her ex-brother-in-law was shooting at the facade of her house with a shotgun. She has also told him that the man has shown up at her house and that he has threatened her and her daughter – a minor – with the long gun. Both, as the police have suggested, have taken refuge inside the home in fear and have lowered the blinds.
Meanwhile, the man has shot several times at the windows of the house.
Upon arrival, the Urban Guard patrol found that the individual had a long firearm in hand and that instead of giving up when he saw the police presence, he instead challenged them and shot them. In response, local agents responded with at least three shots.
