A lot of supporters in Beernem, the official starting place of the Tour

All week there were activities in Beernem, with of course the passage of the race this morning as the highlight. The start of this Tour of Flanders was in Bruges, but the race was only officially started in Oedelem, a sub-municipality of Beernem. Forza 8830, the local cycling club, was there early.

KNOWN FIGURES

Beernem was not only the official starting place, but also one of the villages of the round. Beernem breathes course, also thanks to well-known figures such as Sven Vanthourenhout and Robert Vermeire.

After a long wait it was time for the highlight, the passage of the riders. And as with all climaxes, this one too was over in a whistle.
