The RTL 4 show B&B Vol Liefde is more successful than ever; according to Tina Nijkamp, there was even one last night all time high put down. But there is also criticism: “A lot of spiritual crazies.”
RTL 4 has struck gold this summer: the station fills the entire primetime block five days a week with B&B Vol Liefde and the viewing figures are very high. The third episode came out last night at 997 thousand viewers (24 percent market share), which is the highest score for this program ever, according to viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp.
‘Casted on nice and weird’
Tina is quite impressed. She expects even more record numbers. “In the coming weeks without the competition from De Slimste Mens we will see even more records, I suspect. Nice for the team, creator Ralph de Beurs, RTL 4 and Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte.”
Yet there is also criticism of the current series. For example, Marc-Marie Huijbregts says in his podcast: “It seems that they have cast on nice and weird. One is very nice, that Debby. That is Alfred van den Heuvel’s ex. I know that one, so that’s very nice. But there are also a number of which I think: they have been chosen…”
Co-host Isa Hoes adds: “Because they are so crazy.”
Spiritual weirdos
AD journalist Jeffrey Stevens also thinks it is a bit too much. “It seems like a haven for spiritual crazies this year. Candidate Walter receives therapist Claudia, who is good at ‘manifesting’, and calibration technician Anne, a woman with a voice like a jigsaw.”
And so it goes, he tweeted. “Candidate Joy receives a visit from ‘sound healer’ Babette, who already performs strange rituals with a tuning fork during the first hours of her stay. She talks about healing vibrations to her opponent Zoë (a girl with a terribly fake Gooise r.)”
Hypocrisy
There is also a hint of hypocrisy, says Telegraaf media journalist Jef Willemsen. “Spiritual doesn’t necessarily mean environmentally conscious… otherwise you won’t be wasting precious energy with ice baths in sweltering Malaga. Hypothermia on the way to global warming!”
And Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden in his podcast: “They really looked at characters for this third season.”
Private star journalist Jan Uriot does understand this. “You always have to laugh a lot about spirituality, but that is something that people really care about.”
