86 percent of nature lovers agree (strongly) with the statement ‘I am regularly annoyed by holidaymakers who disturb nature’. 91 percent experience that recreation in nature reserves has increased in the past ten years. They call for more supervision, enforcement and awareness among visitors.
One of the biggest annoyances is litter that is left behind, according to the survey.
Almost everyone (96 percent) believes that more should be done to raise awareness of the effects of recreation on nature. 84 percent is in favor of more supervision and enforcement to prevent disruption from recreation, and 73 percent agrees (strongly) that more strict regulations from nature managers and governments are needed.
Incidentally, a third of nature admirers also sometimes disturb nature during their recreation.
