CEO of KWH Freeze Peter Lång tells Iltalehti that the matter has been notified to the data protection commissioner. According to Lång, the company is investigating the extortion that came to the company’s attention over the weekend.
– Our operations are stable, Lång states.
Lång refused to comment, for example, on the hackers’ ransom demand or other details of the blackmail against the company.

What ransomware?
Ransomware refers to malware designed to blackmail a target.
According to F-Secure, ransomware software can, for example, encrypt files on a computer or server or lock them completely.
The victim is typically required to pay the virtual currency bitcoin for unlocking. If the victim does not act as requested, the blackmailers threaten to publish all the data they have captured.
In the case of KWH Freeze, LockBit has threatened to release the information on November 27 if the ransom is not paid.
KWH Freeze, which has been operating since 1965, says on its website that it is by far Finland’s largest player in frozen food storage. The company’s main warehouse is located in Vantaa.
