A lack of promotion is like a slap in the face for Berlin’s police officers

Berlin’s police officers were promised a promotion, but now many will probably not get it after all. A comment from BZ editor Axel Lier.

Many police officers are not expected to be promoted until the summer – now they are financially empty-handed.

Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) leaned far out of the window with her promise in January and will now have to deal with the frustration of the police officers.

The so-called middle service of the protection police is disappointed: It is the police officers who have been pushing hard duties on sections and hundreds for years. Instead of their regular promotion, they don’t get a peep from the administration.

The only thing they hear is that the politicians in the House of Representatives have retrospectively increased their allowances to EUR 6,657 per month as of January 1st. “Stop spending below, brisk spending above,” wrote a BZ police officer

That seems like a slap in the face for all those who put their heads down for our safety.
