Gucci brings the 102-year history of the Italian luxury fashion house to Shanghai. The Gucci Cosmos exhibition is a playful journey through the decades, showcasing iconic, timeless designs from the brand’s history, Gucci announced on Tuesday.
The exhibition was curated by Italian media theorist Maria Luisa Frisa and brings together pieces from the brand’s Florentine archive. The selected designs reflect different eras and creative directors of the brand, from founder Guccio Gucci to Tom Ford and Frida Giannini to Alessandro Michele, who led the brand until the end of November.
The “Gucci Cosmos” exhibition is divided into different “worlds”. Eight distinct zones have been designed by British artist Es Devlin to create an “innovative audiovisual and kinetic experience,” according to the statement.
“This exhibition takes visitors on a captivating journey through the house’s past, present and future,” said Gucci CEO Marco Bizzari. “In this way, ‘Gucci Cosmos’ is a true celebration of the brand’s evolution throughout its 102-year history, thanks to the iconic designs and ingenuity that have always defined the brand and will continue to do so.”
The “Gucci Cosmos” exhibition will be held at the West Bund Art Center in Shanghai from April 28th to June 25th before moving on to other countries.
