A good quarter received an inflation compensation premium

According to a new survey, a good quarter (27 percent) of the German population has so far received the inflation compensation premium. This was determined by the Yougov survey institute in a representative survey of 3031 adults. The question was asked in mid-January. The client was the financial consulting company Swiss Life Select, a subsidiary of the Swiss Life life insurance company.

As part of the premium introduced in October last year, companies can pay their employees up to EUR 3,000 tax-free inflation compensation premium until the end of 2024. 27 percent of the participants said that they had already received the award.

Over three-quarters of respondents said they were concerned about inflation. On average, women (82 percent) are apparently more concerned than men (72 percent). According to the survey, older people aged 55 and over (84 percent) are also more concerned about inflation than the general population.

Save on luxury and consumer goods

Over four-fifths (81 percent) said they felt inflation particularly badly when it came to groceries and household purchases. In order to counteract the negative consequences of inflation for their own wallets, many people save on non-essential consumer spending. 49 percent each named luxury and consumer goods such as new clothes, 48 percent leisure activities and 47 percent holidays.
