A total of 22 crews of the Generalitat Fire Brigade (18 land and 4 aerial) have declared a forest fire declared controlled late in the afternoon between the municipalities of Xerta and Paüls, in Baix Ebre (Tarragona) that have been working since 2:30 p.m. this Monday to extinguish it.

The flames were located about 700 meters from the TV-3541 road, and as indicated by the fire brigade, the two flanks of the fire go down the Coll de Saleras and are surrounded by fields. According to the same source, the location has favored the troops on the ground to lower the intensity of the flames.

It has been ruled out to evict the farmhouses near the area affected by the fire which, according to first estimates, affects some five hectares of surface.
