In 2017 I started on the pages of this newspaper and, at that time, the outbreaks of the patriarchal reaction before a growing feminism. We warned that they had just begun and pointed out the plans of lobbies and associations, national and international, to promote denialist legislation against the human rights of women.
Those warnings are already a reality here, in our city, in our community. At the same time, there are several countries that have applied restrictive policies towards women. Some, in contexts of conflicts and dictatorships where protest leads to death. The reactionary wave seems unstoppable, especially among the greatest current challenge: a youth that believes itself to be modern but is beginning to harbor denialist thoughts from 30 years ago. Especially between them.
The future of feminism it will depend on their citizenship, their feminist historical memory, their principles and values. And that, in turn, of the public policies developed and, to a large extent also, of what the media do. Because it seemed very profitable to some to give voice over the years to incendiary statements by politicians and macho commentators, instead of condemning them to protect the women who depend on that feminism to save themselves. We already suffered the result, with a public opinion that tolerates, accepts and votes for the unacceptable.
The future of feminism will come from each person. And there it is no longer worth putting aside, but demonstrating. Only through a culture far from macho stereotypes and myths will it be possible to move forward or be anchored in the past. The question that arises is until when. How long is a population going to tolerate the fact that there are murders or rapes every year? How long will they support the denialism of gender violence? How long will the breakdown of unquestionable human rights consensus last? In a democratic society, it is terrifying to think that we will never achieve the number of murdered to zero just because you don’t want to and because of a lack of commitment. And therefore, under the tip of that iceberg of victims, the invisible victims who fight to survive will continue.
If we think about the future, it will take time for us to break with myths and hoaxes spread about feminism, who have created an undeserved stigma over him. Undeserved due to lack of respect for his victims, and ingratitude for all the predecessors who paid a high price to achieve what was achieved. And not only from denial, but from a right that establishes alliances with the extreme right. And from a left far from the expected height that, on more than one occasion, he has forgotten the feminist historical memory and damaged your schedule.

The challenge of feminism for the coming years will be to reverse the denialist lies, with the difficulty that they now have more voice and decision.
