The world looks pink. At least all Barbie fans will conjure up their pink clothes from their closets to celebrate the Barbie film premiere. The color pink and the doll are enjoying great popularity again thanks to the new film starring Margot Robbie.

The pink-clad doll doesn’t stop at the fashion world either, and in recent years it has been Barbiecore trend a permanent guest on the catwalks. The trend exudes positive energy and joie de vivre and provides a welcome contrast to the general unrest created by the pandemic and societal changes. The trend peaked last summer, but with the launch of the Barbie movie, Barbiecore has picked up steam again. The Spanish fast fashion brand Zara, which belongs to the Inditex group, presented a collection inspired by the doll on Monday. With clothing, accessories, pajamas and beauty products, the collection is aimed not only at women and girls, but also at men. The Zara Home line is also immersed in the Barbie theme and offers, among other things, cushions, candles and lunch boxes. The collection is inspired by looks from the film, such as the pink plaid dress worn by Margot Robbie or the cowboy outfit worn by Ryan Gosling as Ken, according to a statement from Zara. To launch the collection, Zara opened two pop-ups inspired by Barbie’s dream house, one on the Champs-Elysées in Paris and the other in the Zara store in New York.

Asos, Primark and Forever 21

British clothing retailer Asos Plc is also embracing the Barbie trend and has launched a collection of dresses, sets and t-shirts. According to the Asos newsletter, the collection is divided into individual themes: casual Barbie, Barbie in the city, Barbie going out and 90s Barbie.

Clothing discounter Primark is trying to spark Barbie nostalgia with a pink collection full of glitter. The collection “will definitely appeal to your inner Barbie fan,” writes Primark on its website. The fast fashion chain offers clothing, pajamas and accessories in the collection, which the website says consists of 86 products.

Fast fashion outlet Forever 21 is making “a dream come true for many young girls” by launching a Barbie collection for women. The exclusive line includes dresses, tops and pants, as well as accessories consists mainly of pink clothes and lots of glitter.

Crocs

Exactly one week before the film premiere, the shoe brand Crocs also started a collaboration with Barbie. In addition to shoes, the collection naturally also includes the characteristic Jibbitz charms. The ‘Barbie Mega Crush Clog’ and eight official Jibbitz are inspired by the movie, according to a statement.

The US clothing group Gap has also entered into a partnership with Mattel and launched the Gap x Barbie collection in May. The collection includes t-shirts, skirts, logo hoodies, jeans, button-downs, accessories and pet clothing and is available through the online store and select brick-and-mortar stores worldwide, Gap said in a statement. “The collaboration between Gap and Mattel represents the collaboration of two iconic brands to create products that the whole family can wear,” said Christopher Goble, Gap’s director of merchandising.

While fashion brands provide clothing for Barbie fans, Australian skate and roller skate brand Impala is bringing Barbie-inspired roller skates to life. The bright yellow and pink inline skates appear in combination with matching protectors and socks. The collection is available through the Impala website and starts at around 30 euros for the socks and around 190 euros for the skaters.

Karen Mabon

British designer Karen Mabon is also collaborating with Barbie. The six-piece limited edition collection is based on some of the most iconic Barbies of recent years: a print is inspired by the original 1959 Barbie and her chevron swimsuit. The designs combine nostalgia “with the boundless imagination of the iconic Barbie,” the label explains in a statement. Two cotton pajama sets feature illustrations of Barbie’s 60th birthday. The print was inspired by Mabon’s own visits to the toy store when she saw different versions of the doll during her childhood. The collection also includes a bathrobe and a sun hat.

British online fashion retailer Bohoo is promoting its Barbie collection with the idea of ​​”breaking boundaries and promoting empowerment and inclusivity,” the company said in a statement. The collection consists of 38 styles that “combine Boohoo’s streetwear elements with Barbie flair,” it continues. In addition to printed T-shirts, oversized hoodies and sweatshirts, jogging pants and shorts, the collection also includes knitted dresses, bathing suits and a bomber jacket.
